ITZY greets Filo MIDZYs at a press event before the Manila leg of ‘1st World Tour: Checkmate’

JYP Entertainment’s 4th generation K-pop girl group, ITZY, came back to Philippines one day before their Manila leg of ‘1st World Tour: CHECKMATE’ to greet their Filipino MIDZYs at a press event that happened in Glorietta Activity Center on January 13, 2023.

ITZY debuted on February 12, 2019, with their song ‘DALLA DALLA.’ The group consists of 5 members named: Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. They rose to stardom with their famous songs ‘WANNABE,’ ‘ICY,’ ‘Not Shy,’ ‘In the morning,’ ‘LOCO,’ ‘Sneakers,’ and their latest comeback song, ‘Cheshire.’

Filipino MIDZYs could not contain their happiness and excitement when they found out that the girls will return to Manila for an additional press event prior to the group’s world tour concert.

The Activity Center in Glorietta was filled with fans cheering the names of the group members, waving their ITZY ring lights (ITZY’s light stick), and some of them dancing the group’s choreography to every song played. Those who were not able to get hold of tickets went to the second and third floors of the venue, pushing their luck to see their favorite girl group.

Filipino MIDZYs were so thrilled to meet ITZY again. While waiting for the press event to formally start, the host Rico Robles, hyped the fans to cheer for the girls. The crowd also sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to the fans who will be celebrating their birthdays this January.

As the girls finally made their entrance, they were welcomed with loud cheers from the audience. ITZY was amazed to see so many MIDZYs waiting for them to arrive. They said that they are very thankful and that they miss their Filipino MIDZYs so much.

ITZY was asked to respond to a couple of questions at the event. The girls expressed their delight that the Philippines was their first stop for their 2023 tour and that they wanted more time to interact with the fans (thanks to Filo MIDZYs’ warm welcome). They also shared a few of their plans for 2023 and revealed that they are planning to come back sooner or later.

Here are some of ITZY’s answers during the press event:

What can they remember during their first visit in Manila?

“It was in December, so the Philippine MIDZYs sang a Happy Birthday song to Yuna and Yuna cried.”

Which artist does ITZY want to collaborate with?

“JYP!”

What is your secret to their group’s chemistry?

“They are working together, and teamworks comes out naturally.”

How do you handle expectations?

“MIDZYs been a huge part of their success, that is why they want to give back the energy on stage and *some* new songs. “

What place do you want to visit in the Philippines?

Chaeryeong happily answered, “Boracay! Take me to Boracay!”

How do you feel when their concert tickets were all sold out in just a few hours?

They were surprised and grateful, they didn’t expect that many people would wait for them here in the Philippines.

After their press event in Glorietta Activity Center, they had their Manila leg of ‘1st World Tour: CHECKMATE’ last Saturday and Sunday, January 14 and 15, 2023.
