It seems the musical tribute to the iconic James Bond theme song at this year’s Oscars was all we needed to confirm that the rumors about the search for the new 007 were true.
Spoiler alert!
For fans of the Bond franchise, it was quite an epic twist in its most recent feature, “No Time To Die (2021),” that leading man Daniel Craig bids audiences a final goodbye as his character ultimately meets his demise. That alone not only surprised viewers with the agent’s trait of being a man of steel but also gave them an opening idea for a new actor to take his place and possibly a new plot line.
While the Bond franchise experienced some tensions over disagreements on the direction of the project between long-time stewards, the Broccoli family, and Amazon, in terms of the creative direction of the future addition to the movie series, social media users are already voicing their bias online.

Theo James, Henry Cavill, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, are undoubtedly on the top of the list in the people’s choice to play the new 007 agent. While these stars have their lips sealed, fans speculate that the possible lead actors are already in the season of preparation for auditions.
One video from Tiktok shows James training in a boxing ring with the clip’s caption reading, “Ladies and gentlemen, we have Theo James the next James Bond. It’s an honour to be part of Mr Bonds training camp.”

Cavill, on the other hand, had also been probed on the matter, and as per Forbes, he noted that despite the aforementioned complications with production, he was very much interested. The former Superman of the DC universe appeared in The Rich Eisen Show back in 2024, and while he was promoting another film at the time, he couldn’t help but point out that the character he was playing in “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” was partially based-on James Bond, aligning the probable casting opportunity.
Among the top three, Johnson had instead promoted the franchise on its own as a film for audiences to enjoy regardless of casting. He spoke with ComicBook in an interview and said, “I think, you know, if that’s the thing you’re really into [Bond] and that’s the kind of movie you love, then you should come see this movie because the action in this is insane and super-exciting.”
A production insider, however, denied claims to BBC News and said there had been “no truth in the rumours” in terms of the actor’s chances. Johnson nonetheless spoke like a true gentleman on the consistent query on being the next James Bond, and told Numero Magazine, “I take it as a great compliment.”
While the Broccoli family and Amazon are yet to reconcile and find common ground with creative direction in production, it’s safe to say that there is a big anticipation from audiences that they can only deliver the best for the agent known for his special martini order and quick wits.
