The internet is having a field day over the alleged leak of Kitty Duterte’s private Instagram stories.
One phrase in particular, “Wake and Bake,” has been trending online, with internet users speculating about its meaning.
Although this situation has not been verified, the term is commonly linked to cannabis usage in the morning, which has sparked online discussion on whether the post was deliberate or simply an unfortunate coincidence.
Other people believe that Kitty was the owner of the now-deactivated account @Purplekushbakie from where the screenshots of the posts were allegedly taken, which added more fuel to the fire.
Social media users took to social media to express their thoughts about the said situation with Kitty Duterte.
One user wrote, “She was out in Bangkok and Pattaya in 2024, where weed is totally legal, while her dad was out here leading a bloody war against drugs. Like, isn’t it the height of hypocrisy to preach about the dangers of drugs while casually enjoying them yourself?”
Another user wrote, “How hypocrite talaga siya like come on your dad hunting drug user when in fact ikaw din (Kitty) uses drug that is not legal in Philippines you deserve jail time [How much of a hypocrite is she like come on your dad hunting drug user when in fact you yourself (Kitty) uses drug that is not legal in the Philippines you deserve jail time].”
A third user wrote, “The fact that these privileged people are using drugs freely just for the fun of it and the exhilarating feeling they get while some of the poor r literally killed for using it to survive the hunger, to stay awake for work and etc.”
As Filipinos are known for their wit, they wasted no time turning the incident into memes.
Although many were not pleased with her actions, some social media users pointed out that it remains speculation until there is proof that she is actually using drugs.
Regardless of whether “Wake and Bake” was a reference, a joke, or simply misinterpreted, the internet isn’t letting this slide anytime soon.
