Social media users weigh in on the live-action adaptation casting of Snow White

The teaser trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” has been released which has been causing a buzz online.

The teaser was released last August 9 during the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California.

Disney has previously unveiled a first look showing Rachel Zegler as Snow White with her signature bob haircut surrounded by the group of seven dwarfs.

Upon its release, social media users were divided in their opinions specifically about the casting, and took to social media to share their thoughts.

“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” is a reimagination of the 1937 animated film. The original Snow White tells the story of a young girl who runs away from the castle after her stepmother, the Evil Queen, sends the Huntsman to kill her because she is so beautiful. Snow white escapes to a home where she meets the seven dwarves when the Huntsman is unable to accomplish his goal.

The Evil Queen pays Snow White a visit after learning that she is still alive and delivers her a poisoned apple. Snow White is then awakened from her poisoning by the kiss of her true love, a prince.

With Marc Platt serving as producer, the screenplay was written by Barbie’s Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. The film is directed by Marc Webb, who helmed The Amazing Spiderman.

In the remake, Tony Award winner Andrew Burnap will portray a new character named Jonathan, while Ansu Kabia plays the Huntsman. The songwriting duo of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul has created brand new songs specifically for the revival in addition to using songs from the original movie.

Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the film’s initial release date of March 22, 2024, has been rescheduled to March 21, 2025.
