Nothing beats Filipino humor, and this group of friends proves why we’re known for having the biggest smiles.
A Facebook user named Albert Labrador shared a humorous post on his account, captioned with, “We made it! Happy 6th Anniversary Mt Kamuning climb–west to east face and back traverse, without supplemental oxygen. No guides or porters. We did not conquer it! We are one with the overpass!”
The group was seen in layers of warm clothing with flashlights and protective headgear, raising the Philippine flag and a sign marking their location, similar to other posts of hikers’ successful mounts. With over nine thousand “haha” reactions, or laughing indicators, social media users couldn’t help but comment and share the post, noting how ridiculously funny the banter was.
The actual location is more formally known as GMA-Kamuning Station, an elevated Metro Rail Transit (MRT) located on the MRT Line 3 system in the area of Diliman, Quezon City, where the group was seen situated right on the overpass.
While Labrador’s post is going viral as a meme for this year’s April Fools, his initial post, dated April 1, 2023, was not received the same way by other users online. His first attempt at an April Fools meme drew significant “hate” in the comments, which he later shared on his account through screenshots showcasing the mixed reactions to his satirical content.
Nonetheless, other viewers who stumbled upon his post took to Labrador’s defense with one writing, “Joke’s on them, chief!”
Today, Labrador then followed by re-sharing his dated post, telling his followers, “Waiting for the inevitable negative comments. Lol.” (Laugh out loud). He additionally continued to poke fun and replied to himself in the comment section in his anticipation, feigning to be a troll.
In reality, Labrador isn’t so far off from going onto actual treks as his job and passion has involved him doing so, whether it be a solo adventure or with the family. He has been a professional photographer for over two decades, and has done industrial, commercial, and advertising photography, and is also a part of the UP Mountaineers where he participated in an exhibit back in 2018 featuring his work of the Batanes Fence, and more.
It seems his meme had finally reached the right audience in the annual fools day, as his post this year has reached thousands of audiences who joined in on the laughs.
