‘Bridgerton’ fans react to Benedict Bridgerton finally being announced as the star of Season 4

Dearest gentle reader,

It appears that the second son of the Bridgerton family, Benedict Bridgerton, will be setting his cap on one of Mayfair’s finest debutantes in the upcoming social season. Mr. Bridgerton, who is quite adept in holding on his own at balls and different social events, it is at a masquerade ball where he finally meets the—

Oop! That’s already a spoiler alert right there!

On July 23, 2024, the Bridgerton sibling who will be the main lead in the fourth installment of the ‘Bridgerton’ series has finally been unmasked, and it is none other than the dashing and swoon-worthy Benedict Bridgerton.

Portrayed by Luke Thompson, Benedict Bridgerton will be taking the reins from his younger brother Colin and his now-wife Penelope Bridgerton (portrayed by Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan) and navigate Mayfair’s social season in search of his purpose, identity, and eventually, his bride-to-be?

Although his story was pushed back from being originally the third (chronologically), the build-up for Benedict was surely more than enough for the fans of the book series to look forward to—albeit it taking a tad too long.

According to showrunner Jess Brownell, she herself is excited to finally delve into Benedict’s love story. Explaining the “delay” in his plot, she told Tudum, “It felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down…He is someone who has big appetites, and we wanted to see him living a big life before he goes into settle-down mode.”

This time around, viewers will first see the second Bridgerton brother attend his mother’s (played by Ruth Gemmell) masquerade ball, where he will come across the mysterious figure he called the “Lady in Silver.”

In the short synopsis of the upcoming season without giving anything away, Season 4 is said to “turn its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down.”

Even Luke Thompson, the man behind the beloved character, said this about his character: “Benedict has always been a little lost – or free depending on the way you want to look at it. But now he’s trying to find something a bit more solid in himself.”

And with that, comes all the fans of the show and the Bridgerton book series screaming out of glee on social media, welcoming the Bridgerton son in the marriage mart while also saying, “IT’S BENOPHIE TIME!”

If you’re not yet aware, Benophie is the ship name for Benedict and his love interest, Sophie Beckett.

It would definitely be a crime to keep Bridgerton Season 4 from all of us and to keep us waiting for 2 years. Give us the new season real soon, please!
