‘John Tucker Must Die’ stars Brittany Snow and Penn Badgley haven’t gotten any calls to do the film sequel

It looks like the OG stars of John Tucker Must Die won’t be reuniting for a new scheme as Brittany Snow and Penn Badgley haven’t been invited to do the sequel—well, not yet, at least.

In case you missed it: earlier this year, John Tucker Must Die stars Jesse Metcalfe, Sophia Bush, and Arielle Kebbel confirmed rumors of a possible sequel to the 2006 cult classic teen comedy film, saying there’s already a script and the story involves “all the OG cast.”

Later on, Metcalfe, who played the titular role in the film, revealed how the second installment was still “very funny” and that John Tucker has a great character arc.

“John has a daughter, and, you know, you see how fearful he is that she’s gonna get John Tuckered,” Metcalfe said in an interview with E! News.

As exciting as it sounds to see the OG stars reunite, Badgley and Snow, however, revealed that they haven’t been contacted yet to be part of the sequel.

In an episode of Badgley’s podcast, Podcrushed, the two stars dished on the rumors of a John Tucker Must Die sequel.

When asked about their involvement in the film’s sequel, Snow, who portrayed Kate Spencer, answered: “Penn, I don’t know if you’ve had a call, but I’ve gotten no call.”

“Yeah, I’ve had no call, no,” Badgley then responded. “I mean, it’s maybe possible like the superposition quantum physics, like everything is potentially within the realm of, like, maybe this apple will fall up. I can’t actually say with certainty.”

“But I don’t know. I’ve got the smallest role in the movie. I don’t know that I would belong in it anyway,” the You star said, referencing his role as John Tucker’s younger brother Scott.

Badgley went on to add that the possibility of a sequel never crossed his mind, but he would read the script if there’s one.

On Snow’s end, the Pitch Perfect actress revealed that she and Kebbel had discussed making the sequel happen and “get it off the ground.”

“I have been talking to Arielle [Kebbel] about this for years because she was trying to get it off the ground. I didn’t know what happened, and I was like, ‘Go forth. Go forth with that idea.’ The last I had heard of it, was that she was trying to make it happen,” the Hairspray star said.

“And so I guess she did? So, yeah, I will read whatever people [send me]. They’ve worked really hard,” she added.

While it’s still unknown whether Badgley and Snow will return for the sequel, we’re keeping our fingers crossed and hoping the band will return together for one last scheme!

Released in 2006, John Tucker Must Die tells the story of Kate Spencer (Bush) who catches John Tucker (Metcalfe) secretly dating three different girls from three different cliques at the same time: overachiever Carrie (Kebbel), head cheerleader Heather (Ashanti), and activist Beth (Bush). After finding out about John’s secret rendezvous, the three girls plot revenge against John and enlist the help of Kate to seduce and break his heart.
