Thai BL stars Pond and Phuwin charm Manila fans at GMMTV’s FANDAY in Manila

GMMTV held their 2nd GMMTV FANDAY in Manila last July 6, featuring two of their beloved BL pairings: one of their pillars and one of their most popular stars.

Starting their meaningful partnership with the fluffy romcom “Fish Upon The Sky,” Pond Naravit and Phuwin Tangsakyuen have truly become household names in the Thai BL world, shaking (almost literally) the SkyDome with their presence.

PondPhuwin, or PPW, had their first fan meeting in the Philippines, marking a historic event as their popularity in the country remained strong despite their first appearance together in years of active promotion as a pair.

A warm welcome from the Filo-Narawins

Filipino Narawins, PPW’s fan club name, braved the rain and stormed the venue with their colorful and eye-catching OOTDs to make sure their favorites noticed them.

The event kicked off with warm and loud shrieks as Pond and Phuwin graced the stage with “WE ARE (เรามีเรา),” the OST of their currently ongoing ensemble BL drama “We Are.”

Of course, the fanmeet in the Philippines wouldn’t be complete without some Tagalog words from our esteemed guests.

To entertain the fans, Phuwin asked the crowd to teach him some Filipino words. The dashing 21-year-old actor was then coached to say “Magandang Gabi (Good evening),” and both actors tried it out in unison.

When asked about future projects together, Phuwin hinted that they might collaborate again next year. They also teased the possibility of returning to the Philippines soon as part of the “We Are” series Asia Tour, exciting their on-ground fans.

Fun-filled games to get to know PPW and their bond

To add excitement to the event, several games inspired by their ongoing series were prepared for PondPhuwin.

Named “We Are or We Are Not,” the first game featured a Q&A session where Pond and Phuwin simultaneously chose between “We Are” and “We Are Not” to answer questions.

They were asked about their interest in working together on a movie, and both chose “We Are.” Pond expressed a desire to portray a villain or a bad guy, while Phuwin invited the audience to suggest roles for him.

In a surprising twist, the child actor chose a different answer when asked about readiness for more mature and darker roles, opting for “We Are Not.” Phuwin chuckled, citing his recent 21st birthday, while Pond expressed enthusiasm for action scenes.

They were also asked about the possibility of being paired with someone else, with both choosing “We Are,” showcasing their openness to working with different partners.

Another game, “We Are Bachelors,” delighted the crowd as GMM stars played a blindfold game. Despite challenges, Pond managed to remove most stickers, leaving one on Phuwin’s back.

Their penalty was to perform a trendy dance from Thailand, “Hit Me Up,” which they both executed with flair.

The last game they played was titled “We Are Partners,” which is simply the newspaper game.

Melancholic solo stages as a tribute to “Never Let Me Go”

Aside from fun-filled games, PondPhuwin served the fans with their melancholic solo numbers.

Played as Palm and Nuengdiao in the BL drama “Never Let Me Go,” the actors performed their solo songs from said series.

Pond performed his song “Only One” whereas Phuwin also sang another OST titled “Living For You.”

The dashing boys of GMMTV shared that they performed the songs because they missed and wanted the series to be popular again.

Spotlight to Narawins

The fanmeet not only highlighted Pond and Phuwin but also their fans. Filo-Narawins had the opportunity to convey their messages directly to the boys, sing a “happy birthday” song to Phuwin, and showcase their well-prepared fan project.

There was also a segment where fans had the opportunity to ask questions or talk to PondPhuwin.

One interesting question a fan asked was about “We Are,” regarding whether there were any other unscripted scenes they could share with the audience. To delight the eager fans, PPW demonstrated an unscripted scene.

Fans also sang an energetic “Happy Birthday” song to Phuwin, celebrating his recent birthday and presenting him with a birthday cake on stage.

Closing the day with remarks like “I hope that we will come back soon” and “See you next time,” the “We Are” stars concluded their fan meeting with a dramatic performance of “Truth in the Eyes,” an OST from their ongoing series.

The event was made possible by CDM Entertainment.
