Scottish man behind the 2015 viral #TheDress debate accused of attempting to murder his wife

Remember the viral dress in 2015 that started a debacle on whether it was black and blue or white and gold, taking the internet by storm? Well, the couple behind that dress is circulating the internet once again, but not for a good reason.

Eight years later, husband Keir Johnston was indicted in the High Court in Glasgow for the attempted murder of his wife Grace, according to records from the Scottish Courts.

Kier allegedly conducted serious domestic violence and coercive control in a span of 11 years, resulting in him attempting to kill his wife in March by compressing her neck whilst she was pinned on the ground, according to a report by the New York Post.

He denied all of the allegations made against him including assault and verbal abuse.

Among others, Kier also allegedly isolated Grace from her friends and family, and strictly monitored her money to decide what and how much Grace could use.

Kier and Grace became the talk on the internet way back in 2015 after a guest at their wedding, Caitlin McNeill, posted a picture of the dress of Grace’s mother, that she wore to the wedding, on Tumblr.

The dress became a sensation on the internet and became known as “the dress” or “the dress that broke the internet” over the debate over its real color.

The couple even appeared on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and showed the dress which turned out to be really black and blue.

The attempted murder case will get a preliminary hearing before a trial in 2024.
