HoYoVerse reveals Genshin Impact’s newest region and upcoming characters

The latest Genshin Impact drip marketing just brought about the hype for Fontaine, huh?

On July 3, 2023, popular open-world RPG game Genshin Impact released a new trailer titled, “Overture Teaser: The Final Feast,” revealing the game’s 5th playable region and a whole new set of characters that players will meet in-game. The trailer was one big introduction to Fontaine, the 5th nation of Teyvat that players will be seeing from August 2023, as well as where the main storyline is going.

The region, Fontaine, is associated with the Hydro element and is ruled by the archon named Focalors. According to the developers themselves, Fontaine is the region that “prides itself as the hub of culture and the arts,” or as described by one of the NPCs in-game, “true beauty and elegance.”

From the trailer, fans and players of the popular mobile and PC game are introduced to 11 characters hailing from the new region, including the probable main antagonist Arlecchino, a member of the Eleven Fatui Harbringers.

Genshin Impact version 4.0 will be featuring 3 new playable characters—Lyney and Lynette, and their younger brother Freminet. In a successive manner, Genshin Impact revealed each of the 3 characters’ elements and official art.

Lyney was announced to be a Pyro element user and is said to be the Celebrated Magician of the Court of Fontaine. Lynette was announced to be an Anemo element user and is her brother’s (Lyney) “Multi-Function Magic Assistant”. Freminet was announced to be a Cryo element user and is called the Renowned Diver of the Court of Fontaine.

Other characters introduced in the trailer were: Navia, Charlotte (who played a role in the 3.7 main quest arc), Sigewinne, Wriothesley, Clorinde, Focalors/Furina (the Hydro archon?), and Neuvillette.
