X (formerly Twitter) user called out after requesting donations for concert ticket fund

A social media post has been catching people’s attention, calling out a user on X (formerly Twitter) who asked for money to buy a concert ticket.

“Attending a concert is expensive. Pls don’t pass the burden to other people just because u want to attend even though u don’t have the means. You will not only pay for the concert ticket but also have to think about other expenses such as going to the venue and your pocket money,” as written by the user on X.

The original poster went on to stress that individuals should not use social media to ask money for personal benefit. “Pag hindi talaga kaya please wag na umattend at wag na ipilit pumunta,” the user added.

While cautioning against requesting money just for their personal gain, the OP also mentioned to “stop using mental health as an excuse to do this.”

The user who messaged asking for money has since deactivated their account.

Upon seeing the said post, social media users took to online to express their thoughts about the said situation.

One user wrote, “Attending a concert may not be accessible to everyone, limited to those with the financial means or privilege. When mental health uses as an excuse [sic] to manipulate or convince individuals into giving money, seeking help from a professional is advised.

“The emotional manipulation in this is off the chain. Using your “will to live” as an excuse to ask someone to help you maintain living or else you’ll spiral. Depraved and disgusting,” a second user wrote.

A third user wrote, “Finally someone said it!! giving in to this kind of user will only worsen the scam culture in stan twt/bns or kpop in general. it’s not being matapobre, it’s being careful..”

More social media users have shared their thoughts about what happened with some pointing out not to guilt trip other people for money just to buy a concert ticket.

In conclusion, the situation surrounding the social media post brings attention to the ongoing conversation about financial responsibility and ethical behavior on online platforms. While attending concerts may be out of reach for some individuals, the discussion emphasizes the importance of respectful communication and considering the impact of one’s actions on others.
