Another controversy follows Nicki Minaj after the rapper’s former tour manager accused her of assault and battery.
According to a media report, Brandon Garrett, Minaj’s former employee who acted as a manager on her Pink Friday 2 tour, filed a lawsuit, alleging that the “Super Bass” hitmaker attacked him during a show in Detroit back in April 2024.
In the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Garrett claims that he was confronted by Minaj backstage, and she went off on him for asking another employee on the tour management to collect the rapper’s prescriptions.
Garrett recounted that Minaj “angrily screamed” at him and was “visibly upset,” saying, “Are you f*cking crazy having him pick up my prescription?” and “If my husband were here, he would knock out your f*cking teeth.”
Minaj also allegedly said to Garrett: “You just f*cked up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I’ll make sure of it.”
The tour manager then accused Minaj of “open-handedly” striking him on his face and the wrist.
After the alleged assault, Garrett filed a police report in Chicago where he requested an escort to his hotel as he feared for safety. He then subsequently filed a police report in Detroit.
The lawsuit also stated that Garrett was “fearful and traumatized,” seeking damages for battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress.
Following the lawsuit, Minaj’s lawyer released a statement, calling Garrett’s claims “completely false and frivolous.”
“At this time, no complaint has been served upon [Minaj], and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations. However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex-assistant will be resolved swiftly in [Minaj’s] favor,” the statement read.
This isn’t the first time Minaj was hit with a lawsuit where the plaintiff seeks damages for emotional distress. In August 2024, a 15-year-old super fan filed a lawsuit against the rapper, alleging he was publicly humiliated by Minaj by calling him a “mentally unstable stalker.”
As reported by U.K.’s Daily Mail, the super fan, named Tameer Peak, also accused Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Perry, of battery during a Super Bowl LIV event back in 2020.
