‘Actress Jisoo’ makes a comeback in upcoming rom-com drama ‘Newtopia’

A colorful special poster and the first teaser trailer for the Coupang Play series “Newtopia,” which stars Park Jung Min and Jisoo of BLACKPINK, have been unveiled, hinting at an action-packed and thrilling K-zombie romantic comedy.

“Newtopia” follows military serviceman Jae Yoon (Park Jung Min) and his girlfriend Young Joo (Jisoo of BLACKPINK) as they run through a zombie-infested Seoul in search of one another.

The recently released poster shows illustrated characters set against a neon-pink background, chaotic, zombie-infested Seoul.

Jae Yoon and Young Ju, the main characters, are shown running toward one another while wielding unusual weapons like chainsaws and scrapers.

The image teases the imaginative and exhilarating action that awaits viewers. A youthful and lively flair is added by the eccentric depictions of supporting characters, such as gaming CEO Alex and hotel manager Aaron Park.

A preview of the distinct tone of “Newtopia” is what the teaser offers. The day Jae Yoon and Young Ju decide to split up, a zombie apocalypse breaks out, and the mayhem starts.

The thrilling action scenes in the teaser which include zombies smashing into Yeong Ju’s car and an army tower overrun by the undead, are interwoven with humor and tension. Scenes from the main characters using golf clubs and fire to ward off zombies in well-known Seoul locations showcase the series’ inventive graphics and exhilarating energy.

People then took to social media to express their thoughts about the release of the series’ trailer and poster.

One user wrote, “I didn’t expect it to be this humorous honestly, I thought it’ll be very serious with some comic elements but I love the fact that it isn’t. This concept is so unique and Jisoo as an actress is already slaying it for me. She looks like a very experienced actress.”

Another user wrote, “Omg it’s totally different from what I expected, it’s gonna be so fun to watch! Feb 7 come already!!”

“I’m seated. The Prime Video employees are scared and Alexa is asking me to stop looking at an empty screen because it ‘is not out yet’ but I’m simply too seated,” a third user wrote.

More social media users have expressed their excitement for the upcoming release of the series.

The new and vibrant “zom-com” series will debut on Coupang Play on Febraury 7 at 8 PM KST.
