Filipinos laugh-cry to news of Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Asian leg skipping the Philippines

World-renowned American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift recently released the schedule of her “The Eras Tour,” for the rest of the year until 2024, and sadly, the Philippines is not included.

“EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY,” Swift wrote in her tweet on June 21. “I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year on these new international dates!” Swift added.

American singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter, who is known for the films “Tall Girl” and “Work It” is set to be a special guest on the said tour.

The dates include the singer-songwriter’s tour in Europe, Australia, and of course Asia. In Asia, Swift will be having four shows in Japan in February next year. Aside from Japan, the tour also included Singapore which will happen by March.

Japan and Singapore are the only Asian countries that Swift will be visiting during the tour.

The Philippines’ absence from the list surprised many Filipino Swifties, leaving them sad and upset upon the announcement of Swift’s international tour dates. Of course, some resorted to sarcasm and humor as their coping mechanism. “Filo Swifties” became a trending topic on the platform as fans conveyed their thoughts and sentiments about the Philippines not being a part of Swift’s scheduled tour.

Many recalled how devoted Filipino fans have been to Taylor Swift and her songs. Some fans also highlighted some events that Filipino swifties did in the past.

Here are some (mixed) reactions from Filipino fans and other online users on Twitter:

Even Maine Mendoza, who’s known for her successful manifestations in Twitter, wished for an Era Tour stop in Manila.

Taylor Swift’s highly-anticipated album “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” is set to be released on July 7 where she has collaborated with Hayley Williams of Paramore and the band Fall Out Boy.
