Olivia Rodrigo uses symbolism to share news of her new single, Twilight fans rejoice at the reference

Filipino-American singer and songwriter Olivia Rodrigo is set to release a new single “vampire” on June 30.

Rodrigo shared the news on her Instagram page with the regal black and white cover photo of her new single showing two purple bandages forming an X on her neck.

The 20-year-old “drivers license” singer also shared through a newsletter a handwritten note to her fans sharing the announcement of the release of the song.

“So excited for this new chapter. Thank you so much for all your support,” she wrote.

This will mark Rodrigo’s comeback after the release of her 2021 Grammy-Awards-winning debut album, SOUR, with chart-topping songs “drivers license,” “good 4 u,” “déjà vu,” and “traitor.”

Livies (Rodrigo’s fan name) believed that the song is heavily inspired by Twilight (movie) as the singer is a big fan of the franchise.

Even the Twilight accounts are in on it!

“Vampire” will still be in collaboration with producer Daniel Nigro who has worked with Rodrigo for the entire SOUR album, and its release will be accompanied by a limited edition 7” vinyl and a limited-edition CD containing the song “vampire” and the first demo of the song.
