The comedy series “Nobody Wants This” is officially up for a second season.
The main leads, Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, who play Joanne and Noah, give the audience clues for what’s to come in the next chapter of their story from promotional photos where the two are seen cuddling and cozying up on a couch.
The series is inspired by creator Erin Foster’s life and love story with her husband, Simon Tikham. Noah (Brody), who plays a newly single rabbi, and Joanne (Bell), an agnostic dating podcast host, attempt to make their relationship work as they face major cultural differences. Together, they deal with “all of the modern obstacles to love, and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families.”

Central cast members from the first season are confirmed to be a part of the upcoming continuation. Audiences can expect another sighting of Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, and Jackie Tohn. Another element of anticipation to the renewal is the guest appearance of Brody’s real-life wife, Leighton Meester. The Gossip Girl star is to play the role of Abby, Joanne’s middle school nemesis, who becomes an Instagram mommy-influencer.
The storyline appears to be as inviting as ever, with more guests coming over. The lineup, as per Netflix, includes Miles Fowler as Lenny: Noah’s Matzah Ballers teammate who gets set up with Morgan, followed by an “overly confident rabbi” at the temple who goes by Big Noah, to be played by Alex Karpovsky. Last but not least would be Arian Moayed as Dr. Andy, a character who regards himself highly as a psychotherapist who believes he is the perfect match for Morgan.
An official synopsis for season 2 is yet to be published, but Brody shares that he’d like to see where Noah and Joanne’s relationship is headed. The OC actor noted in his interview with Tudum last February, “I think that’s what the show can explore,” “What should he do? What should she do? What version of sacrifice is worth it?”
While there is very little that the cast can share, they’ve created a notable hit-show as the rom-com’s first season was up in the charts, spending 6 weeks in the Global English Top 10 TV List, reaching 57 million views following its premiere last September 26, 2024 through the end of the year.
