South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun was linked to an alleged history of having a long-term relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron, after YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute made a video last March 10 claiming so.
Soo-hyun’s agency, GOLDMEDALIST, released a statement clarifying that these allegations are false.
Back in 2024, the two parties involved faced massive attention after Sae-ron published an Instagram post where she was seen close-up and cheek to cheek with Soo-hyun. She quickly deleted the “story” but viewers were quick to take screenshots and spread the post over the internet.
Korean users online did not feel happy about this “scandal” and mentioned the actress’s DUI incident, reasoning that she was only worsening her case. The actor’s past interview, on the other hand, resurfaced where he shared with reporters back in 2013 that he “might marry a 21-year old” when he turns 41, adding onto the public’s conspiracies that they may have actually had a relationship due to their notable age gap that fit into the equation.
With what’s been said in the past and with the recently developed events, the apparent highlight in this professed misinformation is that the late actress was groomed by Soo-hyun (which he denied) perceived by social media users as “disgusting.”
GOLDMEDALIST reached out for the public’s understanding on Soo-hyun’s side of the truth and defended Sae-ron from the harassment made by Garosero Research Institute. They state that the YouTube channel made many malicious claims against them, insisting they had a relationship when she was only 15 years old and he was 31, and asserted that Soo-hyun colluded with Youtuber Jin-ho Lee to harass Sae-ron. They also claimed that the agency was unfair in handling the separate incidents of the two, and went as far as sharing “statements” from Kim Sae-ron’s bereaved family to make their claim believable.
The agency voiced that they are “currently looking into pursuing the strongest legal action against Garosero Research Institute for spreading false information.” They then expressed their mourning for the late Kim Sae-ron, who was also an artist under their company. In light of this, they raised the “cyber-wrecking” which she had to suffer during her lifetime, underlining the depth of the harassment brought by the YouTube broadcast to the deceased with the latest issue.
GOLDMEDALIST closed their statement by “earnestly requesting that these baseless falsehoods are not further spread, amplified, or reproduced.”
