‘Fantastic Beasts’ star Ezra Miller arrested in Hawaii after karaoke incident

Ahead of the theatrical release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, actor Ezra Miller had a run-in with the police at a bar in Hilo, Hawaii on March 2. Miller was arrested for disorderly conduct and harassment.

According to a report by the Hawaii County Police Department, Miller “became agitated while patrons at the bar began singing karaoke.”

The report then detailed that the actor started yelling obscenities and grabbed the microphone from a 23-year-old woman who was singing. Police also said that Miller lunged at a 32-year-old man who was playing darts in the said bar. The bar owner attempted to calm Miller down several times but failed to do so.

Miller was arrested and charged with both offenses, and later on, was released after posting a $500 bail.

Shortly after hearing the news, people online were quick to share their reactions on Twitter. Some poked fun and made memes out of the incident.

On the other hand, others also expressed the double standard between Miller and Will Smith as most noticed that Miller isn’t getting the same level of outrage as Smith.

This wasn’t the first time that Miller trended after having an altercation at a bar. In April 2020, the actor was caught on a seven-second video clip choking a woman at a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Miller is set to reprise their role as Credence Barebone in the third installment of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, which premieres this April. Apart from this, they will also star in the 2023 film The Flash as the titular character.
