Jennifer Lopez has opened up about her rekindled romance with Batman actor Ben Affleck, sharing that she’s “lucky and happy and proud” to be with Affleck and that their relationship is “a beautiful love story that we got a second chance.”
In a recent interview with People magazine, Lopez shared that she’s never been better, and part of it is because of Affleck. The couple, dubbed Bennifer, reconnected in 2021 when Page Six reported that they were spotted hanging out together in April.

Lopez and Affleck first met in 2001 on the set of Gigli. Shortly after, they announced their engagement in 2002 but parted ways in 2004 due to “excessive media attention.” After their separation, Lopez went on to marry her then-husband Marc Anthony in 2004 but filed for divorce in 2011. On the other hand, Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005 but divorced in 2018.
Lopez admitted that they “had a little bit of fear” of giving each other a second chance at love, but she said that the two of them are happier now and are protective of their rekindled romance.
“We both were like, ‘Wow, we’re so happy, and we don’t want any of that to come into play again.’ We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience, we’re at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things,” said Lopez. “We’re so protective because it is such a beautiful time for all of us.”
She then explained that their relationship is different from years ago as “there’s more of an appreciation and a celebration” this time.
Lopez then went on to express her admiration for her beau, saying she’s proud of the man Affleck has become. “To see the person, the human being, the man that he is today, the father that he is today, the partner that he is—he’s so everything I always knew he was and wanted to be.”
Love is indeed sweeter the second time around for Bennifer!
