Renowned theater actor Gian Magdangal, shared his unfortunate encounter with a botched casting call for what was supposed to be his dream project for a big movie, “I’ve looked forward to for months—only to find out that they forgot they cast me. Posting this because I can’t believe it even happened,” he said on a Facebook post.
Although Magdangal opted not to delve further into the details, the supposed project evidently held importance for the actor that he could only hope to forget that he was ever cast for this movie.
In the comments section, fellow actors and musicians such as Gab Pangilinan and Menchu Lauchengco Yulo also expressed their shock and disappointment over the incident.
Social media users and followers of Magdangal had also called out the incompetence and unprofessionalism, especially for the movie’s casting crew.
Even though some followers and colleagues are curious about which agency or company was behind the incident, Magdangal opted not to disclose further details on the casting, saying it was “not worth the energy,” in response to a comment.
It is no wonder how the actor’s followers and fellow industry professionals shared their disappointment as Magdangal is a well-accomplished actor both in theater and television.
His roster of works includes the Singapore production of ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ last 2024 where he played the role of Larry Murphy. He was also known as Hector Samala, the love interest of Joy on the hit Filipino jukebox musical ‘Ang Huling El Bimbo’ which featured the songs of Parokya ni Edgar. Magdangal is set to once again assume his role as Man 2 for the longest-running off-Broadway musical ‘I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,’ under Repertory Philippines.
