Chinese actress Zhang Yingying opened the Pandora’s box with several revelations about the tumultuous marriage between Barbie Hsu and her ex-husband, Shanghai entrepreneur, Wang Xiaofei. Yingying came to Hsu’s defense after she accused Xiaofei of exploiting Hsu’s death to bolster his public image.
In a lengthy Weibo post last February 5, Yingying, who also briefly shared a relationship with Xiaofei after his divorce from Hsu, aired her frustration with Xiaofei and his mistreatment of the late Taiwanese actress. She felt the need to do so after seeing a video of Xiaofei walking in the rain following Hsu’s death.
“Now, a group of people have begun to imagine how much he loves her […] a group of people feel sorry for this man because he walked in the rain like he was shooting a sad music video. How ridiculous this world is. He used her death to establish his personality. This is love in everyone’s eyes. In fact, all the suffering was caused by him,” Yingying said in a post.
The actress also divulged that Hsu’s health extremely deteriorated and that had been at risk for some time now after she “risked her life” only to give Xiaofei a child, and had also suffered two miscarriages prior to having their daughter and son.
Although Hsu kept the devastating details of her marriage with Xiaofei under wraps, Yinying reminded the public that the late actress had gone through an abusive marriage and was harassed by Xiaofei and his mother.
It appeared that Hsu had to change even her lifestyle to please the whims of her ex-husband, where Hsu switched from being a vegetarian to eating meat. Hsu had also supported Xiaofei’s career even at the expense of letting him borrow money from her.
Days after Hsu’s death due to influenza, Yingying is disheartened to see how the public easily perceived Xiaofei as a “good ex-husband” while Hsu’s immediate family and current husband South Korean singer, DJ Koo had been defamed and slandered online, even if “all the harm [Hsu] suffered was caused by [Xiaofei].”
In her closing statement, Yingying hinted that there are further details that she opted not to divulge in public, she furthered that was supposed to keep mum about the situation, not until she was put on Weibo’s hot search ‘hot search’ feature.
