Celebrate beauty and purpose in the recently concluded Mr. and Ms. Chinatown 2019

Last September 8, 2019, at the SM MOA Arena, viewers witnessed the vibrant, cultural blend of the Filipino-Chinese community in the recently concluded Mr. and Ms. Chinatown 2019

A year ago, the competition was about celebrating #BeautyindiverCHIty as one community, where we saw candidates showcase their beauty, talent, and purpose in a night of individuality and unity. This year, the organizers wanted to make the prestigious pageant seem more than just a competition. The #BuildingBridges, which is the competition’s theme, is about encouraging thousands of individuals help bridge cultural divides and build a friendlier, more diverse community.

Another highlight of the event was the unveiling of the new crown for the female winners called “The Phoenix Crown,” marking a new era for the Mr. and Ms. Chinatown pageant. Jonathan “Jonah” Chantong (23) and Nina Tay Lee (25) were named Mr. and Ms. Chinatown 2019. Aside from these awards, they also won the special awards for Best in Swimwear and Best in Formal Wear.
