News agency Associated Press has issued an apology to singer Babyface after he was cut off by one of its reporters at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
The reporters were in the middle of an interview with Babyface when one of them called out to Chappell Roan to try and get her attention whilst the singer was answering one of their questions.
He then asked the reporters if they wanted to talk to Roan which led to the interview being cut short. Babyface walked away as seen in the livestream footage.
At the end of the said livestream, reporter Krysta Fauria addressed the awkward exchange and apologized to the singer.
“I wanted to say that I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier. Chappell Roan had come up, and there was a lot of commotion as there is on these red carpets. But I’m a big Babyface fan and as are we all, and so I just want to say that I really apologize,” Fauria stated.
In a statement posted by the Associated Press on X (formerly Twitter), they stated that they have reached out to Babyface and apologized.
“We are deeply sorry for cutting our interview with Babyface short on our YouTube livestream of the Grammys red carpet,” the news outlet wrote. “We have apologized to him through his representative and to our viewers on the livestream.”
While everything’s been cleared out between the singer and the news outlet, social media users pointed out that no one should be treated like that.
Baby Face has put in too much work and brought too much value to the industry for this apology to be enough. The apology needs to be as loud as the disrespect.

No one should be treated like that. Your journalists (if you can call them that), lack professionalism and class. So distasteful. 🙄

You guys didn’t cut anything short. You were disrespectful he handed you back your mic and walked off.

Apology NOT accepted! Disrespecting a LEGEND while being interviewed and Babyface was in the middle of talking was utterly disgusting! Have some home training and decorum as a journalist! ✋🏾👎🏾😤 https://t.co/uWrUeQ2Lh1 pic.twitter.com/wZv5lfCmUj

Reducing unprofessionalism & disrespect to simply just cutting an interview short is wild. Write this apology like you mean it. https://t.co/Mb5bPYqLiU

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Y’all play in Babyface’s face at the GRAMMYS, like, clear signs of the end times. The best decision would have been to formally redo his interview during the show, with an apology.
Too late now, the show is over. No one wants to hear it! https://t.co/kW1v1Y2eTA

We have a very different definition of what constitutes as an apology. Your rude reporters dismissed a legend in the music industry. The non-apology was more of an excuse after the fact when you saw the backlash on social media. Unacceptable and “apology” not accepted. https://t.co/a4WBqtxBNy

In a statement shared through The Times, the singer said “the best part of the night was reconnecting with old friends, meeting new artists, and feeling all the love in the room.”
“That’s what I’ll remember. Music is bigger than any one moment,” he added.
