Robert Pattinson charms fans with ‘aegyo’ poses during ‘Mickey 17’ promotions

Robert Pattinson finally hopped into the trendy Korean finger heart pose along with renowned Korean film director Bong Joon Ho for the promotion of their upcoming science fiction film ‘Mickey 17.’

During the press conference last January 20, Pattinson greeted the crowd “Annyeonghaseyo” which means “hello” in Korean, and even though struggling at first, Pattinson attempted to make a finger heart and eventually initiated to form a heart-hand with Director Bong during the photo-op segment.

Social media users could simply not get enough at how much he willingly tried to adapt bits of Korean culture and still in disbelief at how Pattinson charmingly did poses that are often seen on K-idols.

‘Mickey 17’s’ press conference marked Pattinson’s first-ever promotional trip to Seoul. The British actor is known for his other notable roles in ‘The Twilight Saga’ and ‘The Batman’ which no wonder captured the hearts of many film lovers even all the way to South Korea.

Joon Ho on the other hand is a seasoned and Academy Award-winning director for his works in ‘Parasite’ and ‘Snowpiercer’ where most of his filmographies center around social themes and dark humor. With the collaboration between Pattinson and Joon Ho, the audiences were just as excited having witnessed two cultures meld together in the most appealing way.

Even Pattinson could never resist the Korean ‘aegyo’ appeal as he was once again spotted posing with a finger heart in another event for their film. [For those who are not familiar with the Korean term, “aegyo,” it refers to a display of cuteness, charm, often expressed through gestures, speech, or facial expressions.]

Social media users commented that Pattinson seemed like a natural in doing the iconic poses and fan service.

‘Mickey 17’ starring Pattinson is set to finally premier in Philippine cinemas this coming January 29, after suffering delays due to the SAG-AFTRA writer’s strike in Hollywood and other production-related hiccups. The film also marks Joon Ho’s directorial return to the big screen after his blockbuster film ‘Parasite.’

With the sudden turn of events, Pattinson has successfully hopped on the Korean wave which is one for the books.
