The much-awaited arrival of Michelin star-rated and world-renowned chef and restaurateur, Gordon Ramsay in the Philippines kicked off with a series of collaborations with local celebrity chefs and influencers such as Judy Ann Santos, Ninong Ry, and dancer Nianna Guerrero.
Ramsay, also known for his television appearances as a Masterchef USA judge, hosted a Masterchef-style challenge in Newport Performing Arts Theater last January 20. The celebrity challengers, along with culinary student Danica Lucero and the head chef of Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill PH Bea Therese Qua were tasked to put their own spin on the classic Pinoy-favorite halo-halo within ten minutes.
Judy Ann Santos is still on cloud nine after not only meeting but also having the opportunity to share the kitchen with Ramsay, “That was the fastest, nerve-wracking 10 minutes of my life! But, it was the best!” she said on a Facebook post.
It was truly a full circle moment for Santos who was previously a host for ‘MasterChef Pinoy Edition’ which ran on local television from 2012 to 2013. Being a chef and restaurateur herself, Santos celebrated the precious moment as a milestone in her cooking career, “It’s a pleasure to meet and cook besides great chefs in the industry,” the actress wrote.
Food vlogger and chef Ninong Ry also stood out with his comedic interactions with Ramsay after Ramsay commented how sweet the halo-halo was.
“Ninong Ry binigyan ng diabetes si Gordon Ramsay [Ninong Ry gave Gordon Ramsay diabetes]” he captioned in his social media post.
Upon tasting the halo-halo Ramsay jokingly commented, “I can feel my arteries jamming up.”

The duo is known for their iconic dance challenges and collaborations with well-known personalities both local and international.
The posted TikTok video now has 6.8 million views as of writing, to which Ramsay commented,”I can’t believe you got me to dance in my own kitchen in the Philippines 😂.”
The eventful welcome for Ramsay surely will not be his last engagement as fans and cooking enthusiasts alike await what is in store for his Philippine visit and for the maiden branch of Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill in Manila.
