Jayvhot G takes the internet by storm with ‘Dyosa’ cover, claps back at bashers

“If you ask me,‘di baleng ma-inlove sa’yo si Jayvhot G“—you’ve probably heard this line once or twice since December last year, as it has taken over social media, especially TikTok.

“Jayvhot G” has recently become a popular name, thanks to the singer’s cover of “Dyosa” by rapper Skusta Clee, which has taken the internet by storm. What’s even more astonishing to some is the discovery that Jhayvot G, short for Jayvhot Galang, is none other than Maxie Andreison, the crowned winner of Drag Race Philippines Season 3. Although Maxie is already known for her singing prowess and fierce performances, many were still surprised by her other persona.

The cover was posted on her YouTube account on December 20, 2024, and has garnered over 7 million views as of this writing. She also posted on TikTok, thanking the original artist for the song, saying, “Thank you @Skusta Clee sa pag gawa ng magagandang musika. [Thank you @Skusta Clee for creating beautiful music.]”

Upon seeing the said cover, Skusta Clee posted his thoughts on Facebook writing, “Ta—na putok na putok daw yung kanta ko na jhayvot g ah [Damn, my song is so hot it got jahyvot g’ed]!”

Although many people really liked the cover, some have been criticizing the drag queen, pointing out that she ruined the fantasy of the song.

In response to these bashers, Maxie took to social media to react to the said bashing stating, “Maglalabas na ako ng original song ko. Nagagalit na yung mga geng geng. Sinira ko daw yung fantasy nila sa dyosa. Ba’t kaya sila nagagalit kinanta ko lang naman [I will release an original song. The gangsters are getting mad. They said I ruined their fantasy in dyosa. Why are they so angry that I just sang]?”

She then proceeded to laugh at these bashers, who didn’t like the cover, adding, “Pag pang-straight, pang-straight lang? Bawal sa bakla?” [If it’s for the straight people, it’s only for the straight people? Not allowed for gays?]

People then took to social media to defend the drag queen from the bashing that she had been receiving.

One user wrote, “for me ah i just don’t understand why they hate maxie’s cover called “dyosa by skusta clee” i mean for what? especially sa basher! mema bash nalang din talaga eh kesyo nakakarindi daw [bashing anything really just because it’s irritating] hahaha if you dont like that song cover then don’t listen, listen to the original song.

Another user wrote, “the hate @maxieandreison‘s been receiving from covering Dyosa only tells how insecure men are when queer artists try to engage with their craft lol. mind u she humbly took credit for skusta’s musicality when she posted her cover. no need to feel threatened.”

“The hate is so FORCED. If a cis hetero person would do that, it wouldn’t be an issue,” a third user wrote.
