After becoming embroiled in a “cheating” scandal involving her on-screen partner Anthony Jennings and his non-showbiz ex-girlfriend Jam Villanueva last year, actress Maris Racal seems to be back on track with the release of her new song, “Perpektong Tao.”
Last January 16, the actress announced on social media the release of her song at midnight. She posted a photo of herself holding the album cover for the song with the caption, “Writing this song healed me in ways I never thought possible.”
“It was born from a journey throught pain, regret, and the courage to seek forgiveness, a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we can find light. I’m sharing this with the world, hoping it resonates with those who need it most,” she continued.

It appears that Racal’s personal journey following the cheating scandal is reflected in the track.
Social media users took to social media to share their thoughts about her new song.
One user wrote, “nothing icks me more than ppl using the ‘nobody’s perfect’ card to excuse their problematic behavior.”
“Playing the victim and profiting off of someone’s pain which was caused by your own stupid decisions is another type of evil btw,” a second user wrote.
A third user wrote, “u see what she did with that issue? she wants to gain something from it. and if u support her & say that this is her ‘reputation era’ speaks about you & your morality. STOP GIVING THESE CHEATERS A PLATFORM & CLOUT THEY DIDN’T EVEN DESERVE! ANONG [WHAT] HEAL HEAL? MAGDUSA KA [YOU SUFFER]!”

She doesn’t have an ounce of humility… nope she’s not sorry at all for whatever she did. Just a fame hungry, out-of-touch greedy person. #MarisRacal https://t.co/Vs332IgyAg

pls enlighten me why cheating is being normalized nowadays and why being "imperfect" is used as an excuse to shitty and problematic behavior? 😬 https://t.co/m3TzANAzo7

everyone deserves a second chance, but you cannot expect ppl to move on from it overnight. when others who have been exposed of cheating are being criticized for almost their entire lives. so why would ppl exempt her? cos of pretty and talent privilege?? 🥴 https://t.co/PGi3OcULJC

While a lot of people are disappointed with her move, some seemingly enjoyed the song.

"Nakaluhod na sa masa, nilalasap na ang aking karma" ??? THAT SLAPS SO HARD
🤭 Cos honestly if yall actlly listen to the song she acknowledges the profound moment of reckoning she brought upon herself. The song is basically an acceptance of guilt- painful but necessary. https://t.co/hqq61l7C72— steve 🌴 (@jstevevega) January 17, 2025
After taking weeks off from social media, Racal came back to promoting her film “Sunshine,” which is part of the 36th Palm Springs International Film Festival. It focuses on the story young gymnast who discovered she is pregnant before trying out for the national team. Moreover, Racal will also be part of the upcoming series Incognito, alongside Daniel Padilla, Richard Gutierrez, Ian Veneracion, Anthony Jennings, and Kaila Estrada.
