Korean celebs seem to be out of words for JY Park’s performance at the 44th Blue Dragon Film Awards

By now, we’ve all seen the viral clips and screenshots of Korean celebrities and their confused and perplexed expressions while watching JY Park’s performance at the 44th Blue Dragon Film Awards.

And yes, we might even have the same looks on our faces, too.

The Blue Dragon Film Awards is an annual awards ceremony presented by South Korean sports media outlet Sports Chosun in celebration of the excellence of the film industry in South Korea. This, and the Grand Bell Awards, are considered to be the most popular film awards in South Korea.

The 44th Blue Dragon Film Awards was held on November 24, 2023, at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. The award ceremony was hosted by popular actress Kim Hye-soo (for her 30th and final time) and actor Yoo Yeon-seok. The film with the most nominations (12) was the crime film “Smugglers,” directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, followed by the period black comedy film “Cobweb” and the disaster thriller film “Concrete Utopia” with 11 nominations.

The prestigious awards show was attended by some of South Korea’s most famous and recognizable actors and actresses—Song Joong-ki, Lee Byung-hun, Park Bo-young, Ahn Eun Jin, EXO’s D.O., f(x)’s Krystal Jung, Jo In-sung, Um Jung-ah, Go Min-si, Jeon Yeo-been, Kim Seon-ho, Shin Ye-eun, Ryu Jun-yeol, and numerous others.

Performances also dazzled the already shining film awards, with popular girl group NewJeans performing their hits “ETA” and “Super Shy,” much to the delight of the attendees, South Korea’s “Madonna” Kim Wan-sun performing “Dance in the Rhythm”, and Park Jin-young, most popularly known as JY Park, performing his songs “Sweet Dreams,” “When We Disco,” “Take On Me,” and “Changed Man.”

The latter’s performance was well…something to remember. We could give thanks to the actors and actresses who reacted so…utterly bewildered. K-pop stans took the chance to reminisce about the reactions to JY Park’s performance back at the 2019 MAMA Awards.

Yes, that performance that triggered GOT7’s Jackson’s reaction.

But to be honest, no one can deny how JY Park kinda ate though. Like, we all need that level of confidence and artistry at least in some parts of our lives. He’s the reason why JYP Entertainment is standing, after all.
