From Callalily to LILY Music: Kean Cipriano departs from iconic 2000s band

On June 23, 2022, former band vocalist Kean Cipriano announced that he has parted ways with his band Callalily.

Kean Cipriano is the founder of his own label, O/C Records. In his 17 years in the industry, he was central to the creation of the group and has also composed, produced, and created songs for the band. Outside of Callalily, Cipriano appears on movies and TV shows. Shortly after announcing his departure from the band, Cipriano also announced that he will begin a career as a solo artist, admitting that he and his former bandmates are not okay.

Following Cipriano’s recent announcement about moving forward, the remaining band members also announced that they are preparing to start a “new beginning,” introducing and welcoming their newest name and logo design by Liberty Austria, LILY Music. The group’s official Facebook page posted an update with the caption, “Magsimula nalang ulit sa simula dahil naagaw ka niya.” (Just start over from the beginning because they took you.)

As for why the band is changing its name, it might be related to Cipriano’s departure. In an interview with a broadcast station, Cipriano’s wife Chynna Ortaleza revealed that the intellectual property of Callalily belonged to her husband. “He did decide to leave the set-up of being in a band. However, Callalily kasi was always under his (Cipriano) intellectual property,” she said.

Following the post, fans had mixed reactions and thoughts on the new name of the band and how it will regain popularity after losing one member. However, fans also professed their continued support and trust for the remaining band members, regardless of their future direction.

To bid farewell to the brand of Callalily (formed in 2005), and to signal their new chapter as LILY Music, they also announced the comeback of their guitarist, Alden Acosta.

The remaining members will continue their activities as a four-piece group (Lem Belaro, Aaron Ricafrente, Nathan Reyes, & Alden Acosta), vowing to get in touch with their fans through their social media platforms. Now, the fans are excited as LILY Music is announcing its new song soon on digital platforms.
