Every live performance of Ben&Ben is always a magical experience. There’s something about their shows that transcend the ordinary, making it a spellbinding journey that leaves Liwanag (their fans) and music enthusiasts entranced. And their “The Traveller Across Dimensions” concert was exactly just that, and so much more.
On December 14, the Filipino indie folk-pop band brought their fans in entirely different realms with “The Traveller Across Dimensions” show, titled after Ben&Ben’s third studio album. With this being their first-ever—not to mention it was also sold-out—arena concert, they, indeed, made it a remarkable one.
Opening the show was Filipino-Japanese musician ena mori, who gave an endorphin-inducing experience as she performed some of her hits, including “VIVID” and “RUNAWAY HOLIDAY!,” among others. Her act was a perfect way to begin the night because, by the end of ena’s set, the air was even thicker with anticipation.
And then just like a cosmic explosion, the audience all burst into excitement as Ben&Ben hit the stage, kicking off their set with “Could Be Something,” a track from their album, “The Traveller Across Dimensions.” The energy was through the roof when they followed it with a performance of “Paninindigan Kita” and “Pagtingin.”
But as Ben&Ben promised, “The Traveller Across Dimensions” concert was just like no other; it was a fusion of animation, storytelling, and musical performances, including a special appearance of their producer, Ziv, as an instrumentalist.
The stage was painted with a breathtaking display of artistry as Ben&Ben brought to life the stunning animated visuals that came with the band’s third album. Fans immersed themselves in the journey of Liwanag, the central character, as she traversed three different dimensions in pursuit of self-discovery.
The audience’s immersive experience was even more ethereal as Ben and Ben divided their set into three dimensions: Light, Energy, and Feel, the same realms Liwanag explored on their album. The band also perfectly curated the setlist, blending their classic songs and their latest hits.
For the Light Dimension portion of the show, Ben&Ben had everyone singing along with “Supernatural,” “Upuan,” “Autumn,” “Maybe The Night,” and “Winter.”
The Energy Dimension, on the other hand, included a performance of “Langyang Pag-ibig,” “Burn,” “Sampaguita,” “War,” “Comets,” “Doors,” “Courage,” and “Triumph.”
Their last set, the Feel Dimension, was perhaps the most poignant of them all. In it, Ben&Ben performed “Peace of Mind,” “Di Ka Sayang,” a mash-up of “Bibingka” and “Ilang Tulog Na Lang,” “Shutter,” “Sa Susunod Na Habang Buhay,” “Leaves,” and “New Dimensions.”
The performance of “Tomorrow With You” was another special moment for their fans as one concertgoer dropped to their knees to propose to their partner.
But the most transfixing experience came at the last part of their set, capping off their first arena show with “Kathang Isip,” “Araw-Araw,” and “Ride Home.”
Ben&Ben’s “The Traveller Across Dimensions” show was indeed one for the books. It was more than just a concert; it was a transformative experience that left their fans spellbound. It was truly a magical show like no other.
