Girl in a jacket

Freshly independent, Lara dropped a string of singles including ‘OBSESSED’, ‘High Standards’ & most recently ‘Put U On’. She’s toured across Australia, New Zealand & Asia multiple times in the past year on support for the likes of Kiana Lede, Thuy, Roy Woods & Maeta.

Lara

She also toured nationwide as a part of Souled Out Festival’s stellar line-up including artists such as, Summer Walker, Bryson Tiller & PARTYNEXTDOOR. Lara was notably the only Australian female act to garner a place on this line-up, cementing her leading role in the future of Australian R&B/Pop. She’s racked up well over 10 million views on TikTok & Instagram from her live stage performance videos alone.

In August, Lara announced her upcoming EP titled, ‘NOT RN!, due to release in the Aussie Summer. She’s now generously released another offering from the upcoming sophomore EP, brand new single, ‘I Might’.

Speaking on the song Lara says, “ I haven’t released a record that show’s a more vulnerable side in a while. As always, it still feels empowering in the chorus,, but there’s definitely a note of frustration & bitterness to it. I wrote this son g about that fear you have once you really let someone in, and you’ve now given them the ability to hurt you or let you down . Then facing the disappointment that comes with them not following through , as you always knew it’d be deep down . ”

Co-written with fellow Filipino writers Vince Nantes & Shan, the track drops during American-Filipino Heritage Month. Lara says, “I usually write alone when I’m in Australia, but I started this song in LA and it was my first time writing in an all-Asian session, with two Filipino writers as well. It was such an empowering & comforting feeling to create along fellow Filipinos, which I’m rarely given the opportunity to back home. “

Produced by Sam Yum (US) & Hugh Lake (AUS), Lara says, “At the time, I had just toured with Blxst across Australia & New Zealand before I connected with Sam Yun who’s produced some of Blxst’s records, so it was so dope to connect with him. I sent a video to Blxst of the initial idea at the end of the session, it felt like such a full circle moment.”

Shortly after this, American artist, Blxst, invited Lara to be a part of the creation of his recently released debut album. Lara has gained fans in the likes of superstar Troye Sivan, Instagram co-signs from PARTYNEXTDOOR & Victoria Monet & even having K-Pop royalty Jungwoo from supergroup NCT 127 shouting out her record, consequently leading to her being a trending search on Melon.

Lara has no plans of slowing down. With several upcoming shows leading into the Australian Summer, she will continue to release a string of singles gearing up to her upcoming EP ‘NOT RN!’. With her first independent project set to release at the top of the new year, 2025 is looking to be Lara’s most exciting year yet.
