LEGO IDEAS confirmed to launch BTS ‘Dynamite’-inspired set

We’re definitely in the stars tonight as LEGO IDEAS unveiled that they are set to launch a LEGO set which is directly inspired by BTS’ hit song “Dynamite.”

On February 22, the LEGO Group released the final winners of IDEAS – an event that allows creators to exhibit their fan-made sets in hopes for them to be selected and be given the opportunity to be released in stores as official LEGO merchandise.

And yes, you guessed it right! One of the selected projects includes a BTS “Dynamite”-inspired set that are intricately designed and created by two avid fans of the phenomenal Korean boy band, Josh Bretz (JBBrickFanatic) and Jacob (BangtanBricks).

“I am a massive fan of BTS and I wanted to combine my love for their music with my passion for LEGO,” Jacob stated in an interview with LEGO’s 10k Club, justifying his choice to work on the “Dynamite” set.

While Jacob was responsible for the overall direction of the ‘Dynamite’ set and its construction, his partner Bretz concentrated on its design.

“I told him what needed to be in it, what details were most important, and how this set needed to present itself […] I also sent him many screenshots from the music video,” Jacob mentioned.
His co-creator Bretz also delineated how he envisioned the LEGO set’s design.

“I watched the music video over and over and tried to capture its essence in the LEGO bricks. The most difficult part was all the little prints and mini-figure designs. The outfits each member of the group wears [are] so unique and iconic I knew I had to do it right,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the LEGO Group expressed their excitement for the launching of this project as it will showcase the vibrant set of BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ alongside LEGO versions of the boy band’s seven members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.

Details about the cost and date of the LEGO set’s release are yet to be announced.
