Only almost two weeks after Jimin’s recovery, another BTS member tests positive for COVID-19.
On February 15, Big Hit Music announced the COVID-19 diagnosis of Kim Taehyung also known by the stage name “V.” The band’s label released an official statement through Weverse, disclosing the artist’s health status.
The statement reads, “Hello. This is BIGHIT MUSIC. We would like to provide you with some information regarding the health of BTS member V. V visited the hospital Tuesday afternoon on the 15th after experiencing a mild sore throat and took the PCR test. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 tonight.”
“V completed two rounds of COVID-19 vaccinations and is not presenting any extraordinary symptoms other than a mild fever and sore throat. He is currently undergoing treatment at home while waiting for further guidelines from the health care authorities,” the statement clarified.
Although the BTS members were together on February 12, Big Hit stated that all of them were wearing masks and no close contact was made. Except for V, none of them are presenting symptoms, and all preemptive self-tests are negative.
The news spread like a wildfire as Armys were quick to send their “get well soon” wishes for V. They used the hashtag #GetWellSoonTaehyung which has quickly taken over the top trending list.

V is the fifth BTS member who contracted the coronavirus. He followed Jimin, who then tested positive and underwent surgery for acute appendicitis. The older members, RM, Jin, and Suga, were the first to catch the virus after their 4-day sold-out concert in Los Angeles late last year. All of them have now recovered and are believed to be preparing for their upcoming comeback this year.
The Bangtan boys are set to conquer the stage again for their in-person concert at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, South Korea on March 10, 12, and 13.
