Highly-anticipated Studio Ghibli theme park to open in Japan in November

If you’re a Ghibli fan you might want to add Japan to your travel list, because the highly-anticipated Studio Ghibli theme park is finally opening its doors in November.

Dreams really do come true! Filmmaker and producer Hayao Miyazaki is letting fans experience the world of his creations and perhaps make us feel like the Ghibli characters ourselves.

(The opening date of “Ghibli Park” has been announced.)

The studio’s official twitter account announced the opening of Ghibli park on November 1 this year with a teaser photo of the adorable Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro. Aside from the teaser, they also shared a series of photos of the attractions that are still under construction. Ghibli also released a teaser video where the park is located as well as showcased the famous landmarks in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture.

Ghibli Park is located in Japan’s Aichi Earth’s Expo Memorial Park. The studio launched a website for the destination with concept art featuring the themed attractions.

The five sections revealed for the opening attraction are Grand Warehouse (based on Spirited Away), Youth Hill (inspired by Howl’s Moving Castle and Whisper of the Heart), and Dondoko Forest (from My Neighbor Totoro). While the Valley of Witches (inspired by Kiki’s Delivery Service) and Mononoke Village (from Princess Mononoke) are set to open later in 2023.

The Grand Warehouse will be an indoor facility that exhibits Ghibli works, while Youth Hill will have the world emporium and antique shop from Whisper of the Heart.
On their website, it stipulates that Ghibli park won’t have any big attractions or rides, but attendees can freely roam around the park and explore the wonders of Ghibli world.

Last year, they also confirmed that the park will be having a life-size replica of Howl’s Moving Castle where visitors can tour inside the castle.

Check out the theme park’s website for updates and see more of the anticipated attractions of the park.
