ARMYs emotional as BTS makes historic sweep at the AMAs

BTS + ARMYs = 4 Lyfers!

ICYMI: BTS just became the first Asian artists to dominate the 2021 American Music Awards (AMAs)!

The 7-member K-Pop boy group just swept not one, not two, but THREE of the awards show’s most prestigious awards—a feat that the group is truly deserving of. Winning “Artist of the Year”, “Favorite Pop Duo or Group”, and “Favorite Pop Song”, BTS addressed and thanked their fans, or ARMYs, where leader RM referred to them as their “universe”.

BTS also took to the stage and performed twice during the AMAs night— one with Coldplay as they sang their collab song “Universe” and hyped the crowd together, and closed the night with “Butter” as they were decked in yellow clothing and danced under a yellow heart. Their “Butter” performance was supposed to be with Megan Thee Stallion, who on Saturday announced that she would be unable to perform “due to an unexpected personal matter”.

Before antis get mad about how BTS just bagged three major awards, here’s how to better understand the voting process, according to MRC: “Nominees are based on key fan interactions— as reflected on the Billboard charts— including streaming, album sales, song sales, and radio airplay. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partner MRC Data, and cover the time period September 25, 2020, through September 23, 2021. The American Music Awards are voted entirely by fans.”

ARMYs all around the world became emotional at the boy group’s praiseworthy achievement, showering all of their congratulations and love for “one of the world’s biggest acts” on social media.
