Aside from information, the internet has also provided billions of people access to any kind of entertainment online—like, porn. And recently, a deaf man named Yaroslav Suris has sued Pornhub for “violating” the American’s Disabilities Act, a civil rights law that lets people with disabilities to have the same opportunities as everyone else.
Now, the reason why he’s taking legal action against the popular adult website is its lack of closed captioning. In a report published by TMZ, Suris claimed that Pornhub “denied the deaf and hearing-impaired access to its videos that others can easily enjoy.”
Some people might find Suris’s complaints ridiculous but surprisingly, there are actually a few porn fans who prefer watching adult videos for their storylines. As a matter of fact, the complainant even detailed in the court documents the following videos that needed proper closed captions such as “Hot Step Aunt Babysits Disobedient Nephew,” “Sexy Cop Gets Witness to Talk” and “Daddy 4K — Allison comes to Talk About Money to Her Boys’ Naughty Father.”
Meanwhile, TMZ was able to talk with Pornhub’s VP Corey Price regarding the issue. “We understand that Yaroslav Suris is suing Pornhub for claiming we’ve denied the deaf and hearing-impaired access to our videos. While we do not generally comment on active lawsuits, we’d like to take this opportunity to point out that we do have a closed captions category,” explained Price.
Suris even mentioned that people in the deaf community are more than willing to spend money on a premium account only if they would fix or add closed captions for a seamless viewing experience.
After all, we always get what we pay for.
