Hotel Coalesce: Ateneo brings you its first online RecWeek

Annually, the Council of Organizations of the Ateneo – Manila, more commonly known as COA-M holds a flagship event called the recruitment week (RecWeek). This event is usually held at the start of the academic year where different accredited organizations and student groups are given the opportunity to promote their advocacies and recruit new members from the Loyola School students. While recruitment is the main goal of the event, it also serves as an avenue to celebrate the vibrant organization life of the community.

Every year, RecWeek takes place at the Ateneo de Manila University, where students can roam around and see different organizations and student groups the school has to offer. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, RecWeek shifted its traditionally physical event into an online platform. RecWeek 2020: Coalesce will be a two-week long recruitment event for all currently enrolled undergraduates in the Ateneo de Manila University’s Loyola Schools, from September 14 to 26, 2020.

The goal of RecWeek 2020 is to highlight the sense of community and camaraderie of the organizations, even as they transition into an online setting this year. This is manifested with the RecWeek 2020 theme: The Coalesce. It reflects how the individual organizations, despite their different advocacies have come together as one community to be a second home for students. There will be a website launched to serve as the main platform for recruitment of all organizations this year. Ateneans may sign-up for their orgs at www.coarecweek.com, which will be accessible starting September 14.

The two-week long event has adapted a two-phase approach for the events and promotions that will be executed. It has been streamlined to help students be gradually introduced into the org community and next is to go deeper into the individual organizations. The first week will be a general introduction into the org community and students can expect events like webinars, game nights, a talk show, and a variety show. The second week will be more focused on getting to know the individual organizations. Students can expect more org-led events during the second week of RecWeek.

COA RecWeek 2020 is co-presented by The Grind Shoes, and in partnership with Inquirer.net, InqPOP!, SparkUp PH, and WhenInManila.com.
