Online users participate in Instagram’s latest quarantine challenge, ‘Until Tomorrow’

Ever since communities were placed under lockdown, more people have been spending way too much time on social media not just to keep connected with others but also pass the time. Some decided to learn a new hobby or create their own TikTok or YouTube accounts, while others found relief or entertainment in online challenges.

And recently, Instagram users have been posting a series of photos, along with the caption “Until Tomorrow.” Compared to how #ThrowbackThursday or #FlasbackFriday works—which is so 2008—people who will participate in this latest Instagram fad has to do the following: upload a hilarious photo of yourself, wait for 24 hours before deleting them, then direct-message those who “liked” your post.

Once your post has been deleted, you need to pass it on to your friends by sending them a message like this one:

“So…. you liked my post, so you have to post an embarrassing picture of yourself, for the caption you’re ONLY allowed to write ‘until tomorrow’ and you can only tag me.”

New York Post reported that the hashtag #UntilTomorrow now has 352,000 posts with people posting unflattering selfies and photos of themselves from way back when.

But, what will happen if your friend doesn’t want to participate?

Well, nothing.

He or she will surely be tagged as a “party pooper” or a “killjoy,” but online challenges like this are supposed to be fun rather than compulsory.
