‘If you’ve ever doubted yourself, don’t,’ Luke Holland tells Filipino fans during concert

Anyone who’s ever played a musical instrument can attest to how tricky it can be when you’re first starting to learn it. Understanding musical notes–the sharps, the flats, the minor and the major notes–and even adopting your lessons to muscle memory are just some of the things that make playing difficult for any novice musician. However, with continuous practice, a positive attitude and a sincere passion for music, almost anyone can become an expert musician.

This was the case for masterclass drummer, Luke Holland, whose love for the instrument ignited his journey as an artist.

A musical journey that began with YouTube

This all began in 2009 when Holland created his YouTube account, Luke Holland Drums.  Through this online platform, he was not only able to upload videos of his favorite song covers but he was also able to launch his career as an artist.

Soon after, he was asked to join the American band ‘The Word Alive’. During his stint as the group’s drummer, he was able to gain a larger following in the metalcore music scene. Though, in 2016, he announced his departure from the band; but returned to his roots as an internet content creator.

Today, Holland has a little over half a million subscribers on the video platform and his fan base continues to grow as he releases more music.

More success in Manila

Earlier this month, Luke Holland returned to the Philippines as part of his Luke Holland Asia Tour 2019. Held at the Skydome, SM North Edsa, last September 6, he excited fans with his stellar song covers and original tracks. This included Justin Bieber’s “Sorry”, BTS’s “Fake Love”, BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU”, and his original song with Jason Richardson, “Omni”.

In between his performances, Holland also provided concertgoers with tips on playing. And a bit further into the show, he shared his words of encouragement for aspiring musicians and also, thanked his Filipino fans taking time out in their busy schedules to watch him perform.

In the video below, he tells fans, “If you’ve ever doubted yourself, don’t. Just don’t. Just go for it, man! So again, my name is Luke Holland. Thank you each and every one of you for not going on all the other shows tonight and coming here. [It’s] so cool, so cool.”

Luke Holland Live in Manila was presented by PULP Live World last September 6, 2019, at the Skydome, SM North Edsa.

Proceeds from the concert will go to The Ripple Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the youth to take part in events and activities aimed at making a positive change.
