Some BLINKS disappointed with BLACKPINK’s 8th anniversary release

For BLACKPINK’s 8th anniversary, fans were eagerly anticipating a comeback with new music from the complete group. However, their excitement turned to disappointment when the only announcement was Spotify’s creation of a playlist titled “This Is BLACKPINK” to celebrate the milestone.

Many fans were taken aback by the lack of new material, and their frustration was evident on social media.

One fan tweeted, “All the excitement and thinking we were getting a new song just for it to be a BLACKPINK spotify playlist, don’t piss me off me.”

This tweet sparked a wave of responses, with some fans expressing relief for having managed their expectations, anticipating a playlist rather than new music.

Others, however, remain hopeful that the playlist is just a prelude and that new music might still be on the way.

Fans analyzed the Spotify video, hoping to find clues or theories about the release of new music.

One fan tweeted with excitement and enthusiasm, “THE GEMS BEING 8 OVERALL UNTIL IT GOES TO THE SHAPE OF ♾️ AND SPOTIFY RELEASING A PLAYLIST WITH A TEASE OF NEW SURPRISE MAY BE REVEALED SOON!”

Despite their disappointment, fans still celebrated BLACKPINK’s 8 years and even started a hashtag party on X (formerly Twitter) with the tag #8YearswithBLACKPINK.

There were also numerous tweets revealing the percentage of time fans spent listening to BLACKPINK songs on Spotify. Everyone was sharing their results and expressing their happiness with the outcome.

In December 2023, Jennie founded her independent label, ODD ATELIER (OA), and featured on Zico’s digital single “SPOT!”. Lisa established her solo label, LLOUD, and recently released the song “Rockstar.” Meanwhile, Jisoo officially launched her solo label, BLISSOO, and is concentrating on her acting career. Rosé may also be preparing to launch her own company.

The members’ individual activities have only heightened fans’ anticipation for new music and a group performance together.
