Kim Garam is en route to becoming an actress, reports claim

Former LE SSERAFIM member Kim Garam will be graduating from the School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA) on February 7, 2024.

The School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA) is an arts high school that is notable for being one of the high schools attended by celebrities in South Korea. Some notable K-Pop idols who have graduated from SOPA are Jisoo (BLACKPINK), Bae Suzy, Kai, Sehun (EXO), Taeyong, Mark, Jaehyun, Jaemin, Jeno (NCT), Jungkook (BTS), Seulgi, Joy (Red Velvet), and a whole lot more.

In these high schools, graduations are usually an event attended to by the press due to the number of celebrities that graduate each year. SOPA usually sets up a photo wall for journalists and press photos where graduating students usually greet them. Garam, being one of the graduating students, was initially speculated to be posing at the photo wall for the first time since her departure from LE SSERAFIM.

On February 6, 2024, a SOPA spokesperson released a statement that debunked the rumors surrounding Garam’s media appearance. “We are planning to prepare an area for reporters at the graduation ceremony in the style of a photo wall, but Kim Garam is not on the list of students that will be posing for the press at the wall.”

Kim Garam has also been accepted into Konkuk University’s College of Liberal Arts, where she will be pursuing a degree under the Department of Media Acting.

Kim Garam debuted as a member of HYBE and Source Music’s girl group, LE SSERAFIM in May 2022. Prior to her debut, she had already been receiving negative comments due to the bullying and school violence allegations laid against her. Her label had initially denied the allegations and she had pushed through with her debut, going on to be active for an approximate of 2 weeks.

She withdrew from LE SSERAFIM and terminated her contract with HYBE and Source Music in July 2022. In the following month, Kim Garam had spoken out for the first time (through a friend’s account) that denied all the allegations against her and declared she was innocent.

Since then, Kim Garam has maintained a low profile and focused on her education.
