The internet trauma-dumps on Elmo following a wellness check on X (Twitter)

Within Sesame Street, a wave of kindness swept through the Muppet community, all sparked by Elmo’s laid-back question on Twitter on Monday, January 29.

As people transitioned from the weekend to the workweek, Elmo did a quick check on his Twitter followers, “Elmo is just checking in! How is everybody doing?”

His seemingly simple question triggered a cascade of responses, with now 190.9 million views, 16k replies, 53k retweets, 134k likes, unveiling that everyone’s grappling with their own stuff.

Taking it in stride, Elmo encouraged everyone to check in on their pals, promising to reciprocate.

The Sesame Street crew joined in, spreading positivity and comfort, from Grover to Abby emphasizing emotional well being.

The official Sesame Street account highlighted the importance of mental health, but unfortunately, Zoe and Rocco were not present in the supportive chatter.

On February 1, Elmo opened up on Today show about his viral tweet.

“Elmo’s really really happy. Elmo’s glad that he got to talk to a lot of people,” he stated.

When asked about what he does when he’s overwhelmed and dealing with a lot, he said “It’s important to remember that we all have a lot of feelings, and that’s okay. It’s good to know what feeling you’re having. And if you’re feeling sad or worried or confused, then you can talk to someone you love and trust.”

Yet, amidst online chatter, it was a breath of fresh air to witness a positive dialogue about mental health and friendship.
