Renowned scientist Stephen Hawking mentioned in Epstein Island documents, becomes subject of internet memes

Everyone is scrambling to make sense of the recently released documents and list of names of attendees of the infamous “Sex Ring” operated and run by producer and American child sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. What’s even more shocking is that the renowned English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author Stephen Hawking was confirmed to be part of the select celebrities named in the document.

Last January 3rd and 4th, 2024, the U.S. district judge finally unsealed a set of documents from a 2015 lawsuit involving one of Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers. The list itself was not part of an organized list that Epstein might have kept as some have claimed, and most of them have not been accused of any wrongdoing or sexually abusing underage girls.

In an analysis by Business Insider, there were around 200 names listed. Most of the named far included victims, law enforcement officials, household staff in the Epsteins’ estates, as well as friends and family who may have been involved in the aforementioned sex trafficking on their private island, Little Saint James in the Virgin Islands, United States.

Some of the most prominent names that appeared in the documents were former presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, a note even mentioning that Clinton “likes them young,” former US first lady Hillary Clinton, Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend, sentenced in 2022 to 20 years in prison in sex-trafficking, Prince Andrew, second son of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Gore, environmentalist and former U.S. Vice President and surprising many, Stephen Hawking.

Though, to those attentive enough, this was not the first time that Hawking was connected to Epstein and the tiny debauched island. In 2015, reports of pictures from March 2006, taken before Epstein was charged with unlawful sex with a minor, show the disabled Professor Hawking on the billionaire’s private island. The trip was said to be part of a science conference on the neighboring island, St. Thomas, and was organized by Epstein.

In the documents released, there were also emails sent by Epstein to Maxwell to offer to pay anyone for information disproving the allegation from one of Epstein’s accusers, Virginia Giuffre, that Hawking was part of happenings on the island.

The documents themselves have a lack of concrete records of the action taken by the majority of the people named on that list, Hawking included. However, because of the allegations and the recurring pattern of high-profile guests and the owner having been convicted of Child Sex Trafficking, such as Prince Andrew, many have speculated that Stephen Hawking himself had partaken in the events there.

The main amusement for the internet in this specific instance is that Hawking has suffered from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease for 40 years. This is where neurons for motor function in the brain start degrading and interfere with the brain’s ability to send messages for muscles to function, which eventually causes muscle atrophy and voluntary control is completely lost.

Thus, many social media users found humor in the near impossibility of his participation in the alleged sexual activities happening on the island. Some even jokingly posed the idea that he may have regained some function in his body to participate.

But, as previously stated, the list and documents were not specific on the activities each named did while on the island; however, there is still a small possibility of him partaking or being involved in some other illegal aspect happening within the island. Many of the high-profile people on the list like A.I. developer and pioneer Marvin Minsky and former Senator Bill Richardson have unfortunately died and are unable to be investigated properly. Though there are still a good number of names in rotation for investigation and hope for justice for the victims affected by Epstein and his connections are still alive.
