TikTok’s ‘Subtle Foreshadowing’ trend makes its way to the meme scene

The latest trend buzzing all over the internet scene called ‘Subtle Foreshadowing’ is both uniquely chaotic and extremely entertaining in its own way.

With falling videos of people to pets throwing themselves, and even film scenes, the TikTok hit has become a widely used meme format.

What is ‘Subtle Foreshadowing,’ and why did it become an instant hit with social media users?

This latest meme format is typically fail videos but edited in a manner that the ending of it is spliced throughout the actual fail video.

The editing technique gives the video the impression of the ending being foreshadowed within the video itself.

For instance, Olivia Rodrigo posted a video of her falling off the stage at one of her concerts in Melbourn, Australia, early this month.

The video showed blink-and-miss snippets of Olivia Rodrigo falling off a hole on the stage, which foreshadows the ending.

Garnering over 34. 3 million views, the clip of a cat ‘subtly foreshadowing’ its fall off its liter box became an internet smash hit with over 6.2 million likes.

Other famous videos of this trend are scene clips from the first movie of the film franchise ‘Pitch Perfect,’ and scene clips from the film ‘Red, White, and Royal Blue.’

As of writing, the non-linear storytelling “Subtle Foreshadowing” trend videos are making their way through millions and millions of views across various social media platforms.

The origin of the trend and who came up with the idea, however, remains unknown. Nonetheless, it remains an intriguing phenomenon that has caught the interest of the people.
