“There’s no single country I’ve ever felt this strong support from,” were the echoed words in a sold-out room during Laufey’s first Manila visit at her Karpos Live show last May 30, 2023.
The overwhelming support for Laufey was immediately met with demands for a second night or at least, additional tickets to her then, already sold out show. She repeatedly expressed her appreciation and gratitude for the love that her new Filipino friends have given her and promised to make a return.
In what feels like a full circle moment, she’s doing just that… one year later.
KARPOS has just announced Laufey: A Night At The Symphony with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra on May 28 at the PICC Plenary Hall.
This will be a very special performance as Laufey rarely performs with a full orchestra on tour. If you’re aware of the kind of music Laufey puts out, it is certain that the Manila Philharmonic will fully complement and symphonically elevate a Laufey show. Laufey’s rise to fame has become one of the greatest musical phenomena in recent times, essentially bringing jazz back to the younger generation. Her charming personality, graceful stage presence, emotive voice, and exquisite play on words and sounds resonate deeply with not just the majority of her younger audience, but also those who actually grew up listening to jazz.
