Lady Gaga is more than just her iconic meat dress from the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.
14-time Grammy winning artist Lady Gaga revealed that she knows how she wants her fans and audiences to remember her.
The musician shared with radio host Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, “Something I want my fans to know now, which is why I said I love being Lady Gaga, is I actually returned back to my artistry recently in a huge way of making this album,” referencing “Mayhem” that’s set to release on March 7, 2025.
The pop star continued sharing how she’s put so much of herself as a musician, producer, and songwriter into everything that she’s done. Moving forward, she revealed what she wants her fans to know who is “Lady Gaga” is to herself. The singer explained, “Maybe to someone else it might be the meat dress or something that I did that they remember as me. But for me, I always want to be remembered for being a real artist and someone that cares so much about a life of art.”
With this, Gaga reflected on her previous works and described how each of them are unique from each other. From ‘ARTPOP,’ ‘Joanne,’ ‘Chromatica,’ and ‘Born This Way,’ she shared that Mayhem was a project where she allowed herself to be “influenced by everything.” She admitted that she couldn’t classify the sound of her upcoming album compared to her previous tracks, intentionally avoiding giving her music “an outfit.”
The artist grew sentimental, sharing that this artistic direction allowed her to discover her songwriting and production abilities, calling it a “special experience.” She ended with a heart touching remark expressing how she enjoys being able to reflect on all of her dreams and making them come true.
The upcoming album is exciting as it is, but it is even more anticipated as Gaga voiced, “It’s like all of my dark dreams, and all of the different things they mean, and how they come alive, and it’s all in one place, and it’s total mayhem, and it’s completely me, and it’s my gift to my fans.”
