Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis set to return in the upcoming sequel of ‘Freaky Friday’

Yes, you read it right. A sequel for the 2003 hit comedy film ‘Freaky Friday’ has been announced and is officially in the works.

American actresses Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are expected to return as part of the main cast.

Two decades later, Lohan and Curtis is confirmed to relive their roles as the mother and daughter who do not get along and later find their bodies swapped in the film. The film was based on a novel written by Mary Rodgers and had generated over $160 million when it was released worldwide.

Aside from ‘Freaky Friday,’ Curtis is best known for the films ‘Halloween,’ ‘Everything, Everywhere All at Once,’ ‘True Lies,’ and ‘Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.’ Meanwhile, Lohan was known for her roles in ‘Mean Girls,’ ‘The Parent Trap,’ and ‘I Know Who Killed Me.’

The possible sequel may mark Lohan’s return to studio filmmaking. The actress was said to be one of the big young stars of her generation.

In an interview, Lohan said that she and Jamie are ready if the sequel happens. “Jamie and I are both open to that, so we’re leaving it in the hands that be. We would only make something that people would absolutely adore,” said Lohan. ca

The 2003 film was directed by Mark Waters and written by Mary Rodgers, Heather Hach, and Leslie Dixon. According to a report, Elyse Hollander is writing the script of the sequel.

The report added that talks of a possible ‘Freaky Friday’ sequel began when Curtis posted a photo with Lohan on her Instagram account last February.

In a caption, the actress wrote, “It’s Friday. I’m just sayin! Freaky fingers crossed!” with both Lohan and Disney tagged in the post.
