BABYMONSTER is confirmed to debut as a seven piece

Now, this is what fans have always wanted. OT7, ftw!

The founder of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun-suk, gave fans an unexpected twist in the announcement of the final members of the agency’s new girl group, BABYMONSTER. This is the first female K-pop group to debut from the agency, seven years after the debut of the K-pop group BLACKPINK.

The trainees include three Korean members, namely Ahyeon, Haram, and Rora. It also consists of two Japanese members, Ruka and Asa, and two Thai members, Chiquita and Pharita. In a video on YouTube, Yang announced the final five members they have selected for YG’s new girl group.

The five members who  made the lineup were Ahyeon, Ruka, Chiquita, Haram, and Pharita. Yang also explained in the video why trainees Asa and Rora did not make the cut. He said that he wanted Asa to be a part of a girl group project in Japan, while Rora was said to be young and is being considered for another girl group that YG will have.

Yang also said in the video that he needed two weeks to decide because there were a lot of fans who were wishing for the seven members to debut. This is the reason he wanted to take the time to think. Yang Hyun-suk also said that fans are part of the agency’s family.

He later pulled out a new board with the photos of all seven trainees and announced that they would all be part of the girl group. “I’ll take all seven of them together,” Yang said.

Yang said that the first five members he announced were the trainees that YG had chosen. He wanted the fans to think that the two added members, Asa and Rora, are the members that they have chosen. The debut of BABYMONSTER will happen no later than the fall, as Yang projected.

The fans of the much-anticipated girl group are delighted with the twist in the lineup. Fans expressed their joy on Twitter following the announcement that all seven members would make their debut. Below are some of the reactions of the fans on Twitter.
