EXO members gather to send off Kai as he starts his military service

Members of the male K-pop group EXO sent off one of their group members, Kai, as he officially entered military service. In South Korea, there is a policy wherein every able-bodied man needs to serve in the military.

On May 3, SM Entertainment shocked the fans as it suddenly announced that the idol is set to serve in the military by May 11. The agency then added that after finishing his military training, the singer will be serving as a public service worker.

Following the announcement, Kai also held a free fan meeting with EXO-Ls.

In a photo, EXO members gathered and posed together, with Kai in the middle with his new haircut. The group made their signature greeting in the photo.

Chanyeol, another member of EXO, also posted a photo of him on his Instagram account giving Kai a piggyback ride. “Don’t get hurt, and return safely!” Chanyeol wrote in Korean in the caption of his Instagram post.

Kai is the seventh member of the K-pop group to serve in the military. Other members of EXO, such as Xiumin, D.O., Suho, Chen, Chanyeol, and Baekhyun, have already finished their service in the military.

Following the report, many fans of Kai are sad that their idol has officially entered the military. Below are some reactions from the fans on Twitter:

Serve well, Kai!
