ARMYs dub Lollapalooza as ‘Hopepalooza’ as J-Hope headlines music fest

June is definitely BTS month. They just keep getting busier and more relevant as time passes.

ARMYs are literally over the moon as the annual U.S. music festival Lollapalooza announced on June 8, 2022, that BTS member J-Hope will be headlining on its last day, July 31, 2022. His presence at Lollapalooza marks the first time that a South Korean artist will be headlining the main stage at a big music festival in the U.S.

Along with J-Hope, affectionately known as “Hobi” in the ARMY fandom, labelmates TXT (Tomorrow x Together) was also included in Lollapalooza’s line-up for its third day, July 30, 2022. Their appearance at the Lollapalooza music festival marks the 5-member group’s U.S. music festival debut.

According to a statement made by Perry Farrell to Variety, he described J-Hope and TXT as “artists that have been given great gifts in communication. Their global audience speaks different languages but possesses an intense passion for their music.”

Continuing with his statement, Farrell said, “Lolla is the place where all music genres live in harmony. These (J-Hope, TXT) are the superstars of the global phenomenon of K-Pop, and we are so excited to have them at this year’s festival.”

The Lollapalooza music festival is set to happen from July 28 to 31, 2022 at the Grant Park in Chicago. On July 31st, J-Hope will be headlining the main stage along with Green Day, Jane’s Addiction, The Kid Laroi, and Charli XCX. The first 3 days of the festival will be headlined by artists like Dua Lipa, Metallica, Machine Gun Kelly, and J. Cole.

The inclusion of J-Hope and TXT to Lollapalooza’s lineup comes after Doja Cat canceled most of her summer festival performances due to throat complications and recovery from tonsil surgery.

Elated and excited over the news of Hobi performing at Lollapalooza, ARMYs were so quick to dub their festival “Hopepalooza”. ARMYs are hoping to hear J-Hope perform his songs from his album “Hope World” and are possibly awaiting for new songs from the rapper.

Congratulations to J-Hope and TXT for making history and another breakthrough for K-Pop in the west! It truly feels like a “Daydream” to see this actually coming together.
